New Discovery Channel series Dual Survival premieres Friday

David at Discovery Communications asked that I share some information about an upcoming Discovery Channel premiere with my readers.

“Experts agree there are some very basic - and universal - rules for surviving in the wild. Find shelter, find water, find food, and find help. Beyond that, there's not much they agree on. Meet the military-trained Dave Canterbury and naturalist Cody Lundin - the odd couple of survival experts featured in Discovery Channel's all-new series Dual Survival, premiering Friday, June 11, at 10pm ET/PT. Together, Canterbury and Lundin take on some of the planet's most unforgiving terrain to demonstrate - in their own way - how the right skills and some creative thinking can keep you alive.

Everyone has their own style when it comes to survival and this looks like it’s going to be the”odd couple” of survival. This should be an interesting and very entertaining program.

Staying above the water line!

I saw it - pretty interesting, but David Canterbury seemed a bit hostile of Cody Lundin's wanting to go bare foot - hey, it was his choice. I thought Lundin's use of using plastic to keep shelter warm was very interesting - I don't remember reading that before anywhere. Cool beans.

Canterbury's mood was lightened after acquring some red meat, so I'll just attribute it to a protein defficiency.

Canterbury was lucky that porcupine wasn't any faster...otherwise he'd been eating more beach critters!

Canterbury also made a huge mistake when he decided to go check his traps at night with a fast burning torch...would've have been very bad if he had to be rescued by a camera guy!

Lundin did opt for some wool socks...I'm a purist of sorts myself but barefoot in 10 degree weather? Most indigenous people have taken generations to build up the stamina and endurance to do things like that and were more out of necessity than by choice.

I was surprised that they only had a flare gun to help start a fire. I ALWAYS keep at least two or three means to start a fire and a couple of different types of tender available at ALL times.

They did develop a sense of teamwork towards the end of the show. Conflict is not a good thing in a survival scenario.

Thanks anon!
