Buying bulk rounds of ammo
can save you a lot of money but it can also cause you a few headaches. One of
the main types of rounds that I purchase in bulk is 22LR cartridges.
Unfortunately, the cardboard box that holds the rounds isn’t the best container
for storage once it’s been opened. There is a simple solution to this problem.
More than once I’ve had
cartridges lying all over the place when an opened box gets accidentally
knocked over or spills in the glove box or console. Using one of those little
water-proof tackles boxes for storage of your loose cartridges will give you a
secure way to store your ammo. After the bulk cardboard container has been
opened, it’s difficult to make sure the rounds stay secure.
This is a good way to store your loose rounds.

You can also place one or
two packets of silica gel inside the case to keep moisture levels under
control. This will further protect your ammo. These little cases will also hold
more than enough rounds to do some serious plinking.
They would also work well for a survival cache if you wanted to securely stash a few extra rounds.

Got mini-ammo case for secure
cartridge storage?
BTW, these little boxes are
also great for making small survival kits.
Staying above the water
line!

...nice little slip into a different tangent RW...

I can usually find a half dozen different ways to use something...the only problem is that I always need more gear items to cover the additional uses.
Oh well, I figure I'll get blamed for a shortage of those little water-proof tackle boxes...no matter how many uses I find for them.
Thanks Ken.
BTW, the rumors that I bought all the water=proof tackle boxes in a tri-county area is greatly exaggerated.
FINALLY a way to keep that stuff together. I wish I had been smart enough to keep those CCI plastic cartridge boxes from years past (the ones with sliding top allowing 5 cartridges at a time to be released). I could have used those to store these bulk buys.

I've got a few of those little plastic cases but they don't always stay shut...these are a lot handier.
I've got a take-down rifle that's in a pack and I now keep a box of extra ammo in the pack in one of these little cases.
Works good for me.
Thanks anon.

For my 22lr ammo, I use my recycled peanut butter jars after "thoroughly" cleaned. Airtight and waterproof. Drop in a small desicant package, and you've got a long term storage container for ammo!
While not waterproof, a sock also works well for a cheap way to hold .22 ammo...and lots of it!
