Day Lily
Here's a high resolution pic of another one of Mrs. RW's flowers. She works very hard to keep her garden and her yard looking its best. She's extremely proud of both.
It's also a great opportunity for me to practice my camera skills. Enjoy the pic!

The great thing about lilies is that you can eat part of the thinnings! The part depends on the time of year.

The stalks are are best eaten in early spring (they have a mild onion type flavor) and the young flower buds are good when lightly fried in butter. The tubers taste like raw potatoes with a sort of sweet taste. The flowers can be used to thicken soups and stews or as a garnish.
