Simple Survival Tips - Avoiding Digestion Problems During a Disaster

There are a lot of simple things you can do to avoid problems during a disaster. One of the most important things you can do is to always drink plenty of water with your meals. Our bodies require water in order to be able to properly digest our food and without the proper amount of water you could possibly develop severe digestion problems.

Another important thing to remember is to never eat dehydrated meals without proper rehydration. Even though you may be really hungry, if dehydrated food isn’t prepared with the proper amount of water you will be extremely sorry as a result. Eating dehydrated food while it is still dehydrated will deplete the water in your body’s system and you may find yourself extremely sick as a result.

Staying above the water line!

And not just any ol' water, filtered water.

At home, at least a Berkey, in the field, I have a Katadyn....never leave home without it.

Thanks for that tip about the dehydrated food. It makes perfect sense once you think about it, but it probably never would have entered my mind that it might be a problem otherwise.

Katadyn offers excellent filters.
I have a Pocket Water filter (13k gallons), and an extra new filter element (13k gallons) in the packsack that lives in my 4x4.(and a Big Berkey in the kitchen.)
The Combi, rated 13k gallons, may be manually pumped or screwed to water faucet.
Less than 2 cents a gallon for safe water at a time when bad water may kill your child.
Paranoia does not cost. It pays.

Right on with the water filter!

We haven't had any rain lately and you can tell by the amount of chemicals they are putting in the water right now. The municipal water supply is loaded up with a lot of chlorine right now and Mrs. RW has informed me that it's time to crank up the Berkey.

Thanks Bob III.

It's not only dehydrated food you need to be careful with. Any type of dry food item could cause you problems if you don't keep your water intake at a proper amount.

Thanks fiwa.

Check on the Berkey in the kitchen...

Got several of the Sport Berkeys also... I like the fact that you can squeeze the bottle to add water to a pot for cooking pretty easily.

The other filters you mentioned are really good also.

Thanks vlad.
