Review coming? I had a Gerber LMF II ASEK and returned it after 1 week - the over-molding was peeling on the handle. Got a Rat Cutlery (Now ESEE Knives) RC-5 - never looked back.

This looks a lot like the Prodigy, which is an OK knife. I like the integrated stone and ferro rod, although they seem a bit cheesy in design.

Let us know how it holds up to some real bushwackin'

Okay, just read Amazon's description of knife. Made by Gerber.

Sounds interesting, but in function, it sounds very similar to an Air Force survival knife in dimensions. It has many of the same features (non serrated edge, but saw back can do much of described above), less the nifty items in the sheath. A good fire rod would have to be added to it.

I have a couple of Camillus made knives from years back, think I'll stay with them.

This is actually a pic of a knife that RW, Jr. picked up on sale at Academy on sale...it was 20% off regular price. He plans to test it out and see how it works.

I looked it over briefly and did like the diamond sharpening stone incorporated into the sheath but thought the little whistle on the lanyard was more of an afterthought than a serious effort at incorporating a rescue device.

The handle had a good feel to it and the grip was comfortable but time will tell if the handle material holds up. The firesteel and holder on the sheath was a nice idea but agree that it does look a "cheesy". I also felt that the serrated edge dominated too much of the blade length and might make it harder to use for regular cutting chores. The blade does hold pretty securely in the sheath.

RW, Jr. will give a good test though and we'll see if it can really do the job.

Thanks Dustin.

I have a nice fixed blade with a nylon sheath that has a hard nylon insert that works well for me and carry a small Gerber STL as a neck knife.

I also have a Kabar style tactical knife that I like to carry that I've added a small pouch to the sheath to carry a few extra needed items that works well for me.

I normally have at least my small fixed blade (5 inches), my neck knife and a pocket folder (S&W Extreme Ops)that I carry. I've also started carrying a small pocket axe if I'm going to be out and about.

When you need a blade, you need a blade!

Thanks anon.

Well, it looks interesting. I have a myriad oof knives for different things and my favorite is a Cold steel scout recon. ITs realy hefty and handles real well. The BG Gerber is a hopped up version of gerbers silver trident, it originated in design by a couple of Navy Seals(retired) who I guess were trying to build a better mouse trap. It looks nice, but I am not really impressed.

It seems that there will always be a "new and improved" version of just about everything.

Thanks anon.
