Man, I HATE snakes. I realize they are beneficial in cutting down populations of insects and rodent vermin, but Mr. No Shoulders still gives me the Willies . . .

There are quite a lot of variations between snakes, even those of the same species. Even though I'm fairly familiar with those found in my area, you could easily write book about any one of them...hence the links.
