Preppin' Tip - Simple Seed Starters

One of the simplest and easiest ways to start your seed is to use eggshells. Simply take half of an eggshell, fill it with your potting mixture, and plant your seeds. Be sure to poke a small hole in the bottom of your eggshell for proper water drainage. Place your seed startings in the separate compartments of a foam egg carton (punch an additional hole in each compartment of the egg carton for water drainage). Once your plants are started, simply remove the eggshells when the plants are ready, gently crush the eggshell holding your plant and then transplant eggshell and all. The eggshells will decompose after your plants are in the ground. The foam egg carton will also provide additional insulation for your seed starter sets.

Staying above the water line!
