Gun Safety Is A Priority

Just needed to mention to everybody to always use safety in the storage and use of any firearms. If you haven't taken a gun safety course, try to do so as soon as possible. And always remember, safety is no accident!

Although I have guns all over the place I am really an advocate of gun safety. Getting shot with a gun that was just lying there doing nothing is a terrible offense to your fellow man. The best advice I can remember is to not put your finger inside the trigger guard unless you are going to shoot the weapon. It's hard to make those guns go off it there is no finger on the trigger. But Jeff Cooper put the best rules of gun safety together that I have ever seen. A+ rules for good handling.

Well here in the Nanny State, i.e. Mass, by law the gun dealer has to sell you a trigger or cable lock for the firearm your buying. Also, there are real strict rules about where you can keep firearms, especially in cars.

The kids will practice carrying and handleing the empty gun before I ever let 'em shoot it. I was taught by my Dad the same way. Wouldn't even let me touch a BB gun before I proved I could handle it properly. Thanks Dad.

when the kids were young i would take em to the range with me and let them help load mags and pick up brass and would have them do pop quiz's on the rifles. Id make em tell me what each component was as I pointed to it,..I made firearm safety a fun game for them.I would let them walk down range and help me set up targets,..even had them make their own with color books and crayons......when each had demonstrated responsibility I would buy them a .22 and begin teaching them the joy and the danger,....they were never allowed to handle without me present.
Each would learn to load mags,..demonstrate safety,..tear down, clean and assemble.
My youngest daughter at 7 or 8 years old could field strip an AK and put it back in 90 seconds.

I never locked my guns up ,..and they never bothered them.

Same as when I was a kid,....firearms were a tool like any other,...and not to be played with.

Once modified a BB gun to shoot China berries, it was awesome until I got caught! I wound up with a similar problem as yours.
