There are many things come
in round packages or shapes. Unfortunately, these items don’t lend themselves
to easy storage in a survival kit. The trick is to think flat because it
doesn’t take up as much room and will leave you enough space for other possible
items you may need.
It will also be a lot easier to fit in a survival kit.
Got flat tape?

Great idea! Until now, I've always wrapped the tape around a pencil. I had a writing instrument for notes, and tape for mending.

I used to use a small piece of cardboard but lost the use of some of the tape that stuck to the cardboard. The plastic card works much better.
Thanks ED.

I do the same thing with duct tape as you do in your picture. Old membership cards are the perfect vehicle to wrap the tape around and make it portable. In EVERY kit I make a 10' "flat roll" goes into it. Doesn't matter if it is a first aid kit, EDC pouch, backpack, etc. There's always one there. I bet I use my flat rolls more than I use the roll of tape itself because I always have some on me...
