Pretty good backyard livestock, but I wish those roosters could have their alarm clocks recalibrated sometimes. We keep three ladies (only) in the backyard, they provide 6 - 9 eggs week steady, which for our family of 4 is just fine.
Mrs. RW has four hens and the rooster in the backyard. That's the limit by city ordinance. Still manage to get 2 to 3 eggs daily...enough for the two of us right now.
He's something! The previous Range was on a retention pond, I thought the geese were cool until mating season. EVERY morning before light, honk honk honk honk. Id went on for hours.
The wife wants to get some ducks (a little quieter than geese) but it gets a little difficult to manage everything. The chickens don't take as much time and you can even skip a day or two if you have to be gone.
Have a few wild geese that nest in a tree from time to time but they usually move on the next day.
Mrs. RW has turned them all into to pets and they follow her everywhere when she's in the backyard. Might make it difficult later if one of them looks like it's headed for the frying pan...
