  1. Its amazing where prickly pear will take root. Many years ago, one was growing from an angle iron deer blind frame, sandwiched between plywood and frame. I couldn't believe it took root with NO EARTH WHATSOEVER, thats a pretty resilient plant.

    I think as long as there is some type of moisture accumulation cactus can take root just about anywhere. It doesn't have to be very much moisture either.
