Simple Survival Tips -Treating Minor Sprains and Strained Muscles

During a crisis or a disaster, you may find yourself experiencing some very simple medical problems for which normal medical treatment may not be readily available. One of the more common and frequent conditions you may experience are sprained joints or muscle strain. There is a simple solution to these problems.

What’s the solution? It’s raw potato juice. Potatoes contain several helpful and beneficial properties and are one of the most widely consumed vegetables. Since it is one of the most strongly alkaline of all the foods we consume, it works to promote a healthy balance in our system. Although the primary use of potatoes is generally internal (as a food source), it can also be quite helpful when used in an external manner.

Applied externally, raw potato juice can be quite helpful in treating swelling and other disorders which may affect the joints and muscles of your body. When used as a sort of liniment, it can be helpful in reducing the swelling and pain associated with minor sprains or strained muscles caused by simple injuries. Simply apply raw potato juice to the affected area of the body every three to four hours until the pain and swelling are reduced or eliminated.

When I make potato salad, I freeze the water used to boil the potatoes. Does freezing change the sprain healing properties or could I thaw it and use it to treat a sprain? Just curious! I'm thankful I don't need it right now.

I break out in a rash between my fingers when I peel potatoes without gloves, once they are cooked I am fine, I think the starch bothers me, its just between my fingers and knuckles, so I would be interested in the cooked water if it would work in an emergency, Thanks

The same thing happens to me anonymous. But I have found that if I wash the potatoes before I peel them it does not happen. I think it may be the dirt or chemicals (fertilizer and/or pesticide) that is causing the reaction. And also wash your hands immediately after peeling them. I hope this helps.

I'm also curious - how long can i keep the potato water before it no longer works on sprains?

I'm confused... chopping and soaking the potatoes without heat and then straining it into a container works? Or are you supposed to put the strained muscle into a pan with the potatoes still in it??

The raw potato itself can be rubbed directly on the sprain but works better when you make a thick liquid to place on the sprain. Soak a bandage in your potato water and then wrap the sprained appendage.

As with all injuries, it's best to use the fresher treatments and cleanest bandages possible on a regular basis.

Small bruises can be simply wrapped with a potato peel covering the bruise.

In the case of a severe injury, you will need to consult proper medical help as soon as possible.

it is true, in fact when it comes to health, there is nothing more important than managing to eat healthy food and doing exercise regularly.
