Tuesday's Tips for Preppers - Simple Knife Sharpening

There’s a simple trick that a lot of people don’t know and that is it’s more important and a lot easier to keep a knife sharp than to wait until it’s become dull to sharpen it. An inexpensive hand-held ceramic sharpener will work great to help keep the blade on your knife sharp.

There are many inexpensive hand-held ceramic sharpeners available to help you keep your blades sharp. A few quick passes and you’re done. Keeping one or two on hand in the kitchen, your tool or tackle box or BOB will help you keep an edge on your blades.

You can see a great example of an inexpensive hand-held ceramic sharpener that I use personally here:

The ceramic rods will get dirty with use. To clean the ceramic rods simply wet a cotton string, sprinkle some Ajax or Comet on the string and then pull the string through your sharpener to clean the ceramic rods.

Remember...Hone your blade to keep it sharp before you have to sharpen your knife.

Staying above the water line!
