Riverwalker's Pics - Desert Shelter

The jacal pictured above is a typical form of adobe-type shelter used in the desert. They were built using mostly native materials that were available in the desert. This jacal is located in Big Bend National Park.

Got desert shelter?

Staying above the water line!

  2. I'll also mention the 'Ramada', a pole shelter that uses branches for the roof which allows smoke to go through (and also the rain alas) - nice to have for a shade.

Yes, a little bit of shade is good when its HOT, add cool water and lawn chair and its almost comfortable.
