Riverwalker's Pics - Eastern Swallowtail

Eastern Swallowtail

The eastern swallowtail is a very common butterfly throughout much of North America.

Got butterfly?

Staying above the water line!

Thats a great picture sir. I've noticed many species of butterflys aren't around anymore, or are far less in number. I remember as a kid in the 70's, swarms of them flying through our neighborhood (south Texas is a major flyway for migrating flyers). Now - not so much.

It's not only the butterflies that are disappearing. It seems as though there are a lot of different critters that are now quickly and silently disappearing...especially when compared with years past.

Loss of habitat due to urban expansion probably has a lot to do with it.

Thanks anon.
