The winners
in each category have been chosen and they will now become the owner of their
very own LifeStraw Personal Water Filter.
Here are the
winner’s comments in each category:
1. Hiking:
William Bovee -
I always carry a source of water with me when I am hiking. I live
in Southern Nevada and hiking excursions can be a day in the
desert to a climb at Mt. Charleston . The rule of thumb
being 2 is 1 and 1 is none make having a back up source to procure water a life
saving item to the kit. Getting lost in an area like Red Rock canyon for
instance and running out of water would not be life threatening if you could
find your bearings but the pools of water in the area are not the safest in the
world to drink. Having the LifeStraw on hand would be a great item to help
secure valuable drinking water. In this case lowering the waterline and raising
my survival rate.
2.
Traveling:
Having traveled to several third world countries, like Peru , India and Malaysia , I'm very familiar
with the warning "don't drink the water". Being lightweight and low
profile, this straw looks like a no-brainer to keep on hand when bottled water
is nowhere to be found. Looks like it would store easily in a pants pocket or
daypack. Great giveaway!
3. Preparedness:

I can also see how this would be a great preparedness device. When
not hiking, I would keep this with my emergency kit. Many of my camping and
hiking stuff stays with my emergency kit - Steripen, firesteel, MSR stove, etc.
and this would be a great addition.
This post was a good reminder that I need to add some sort of filtration system to my gear.

ReplyDeleteThere are some more giveaways planned for the future. I think giveaways are a great way to raise the awareness levels of everyone.
Water filtration is something everyone should be prepared for in advance. You never really know when your need for water will make filtering a necessity.
Thanks anon.
