well...i was sitting here next to jambaloney and said "babe - can you see something here in this pic?" - he laughed and said that he had just left a comment. so when i say i think it is a snowy egret - i am cheating and he even had to show me where it was!!!
Did you notice the reflection in the water? Even though it's hard to see standing still, it's reflection in the water is a dead give-a-way. It only takes a small amount of reflected light to reveal your presence.
The smaller an object is also means it is less likely to be noticed. If you present a smaller profile than normal, it will be more difficult to be detected.
Unless you shrunk yourself to 'G.I. Joe' size and are standing on the dam, you iz invisible to me. :^)
ReplyDeleteGreat point though, although camoflauge helps, standing motionless often does render that object very hard to detect.
is that a snowy egret? can't tell for sure...
ReplyDeletewe have tons of great blue herons here, they would be above the waterline after a tsunami, they are so damn big ;-)
nice pic!

ReplyDeleteIt's a white egret. We call them cattle egrets around here because you will often see them around herds of cattle and they are fairly common.
Thanks jambaloney.

ReplyDeleteYou need to have faith in your own abilities. I bet you could have figured it out without jambaloney's help...
Thanks Kymber.

ReplyDeleteSneaky is a good thing...doesn't hurt to be a little sneaky.
It's similar to stealth mode.
Thanks anon 7:31.
