It seems that ducks are also good at...

Staying above the water line!

this made me smile, when i am out fishing, the loons come and go all over the river as they please..

as an added bonus, they get their food "below" the waterline simply by diving in... can't compete with that ;-)

When they can find water, that is. Very dry down here. Our fish production ponds at work have been covered this year with ducks, sanderlings, stilts, egrets, the occasional cormorant, and of course, sky rats galore. As in sea gulls...

Ducks are usually a very common sight but the pond in the picture has dried completely up in the last week.

Without rain, I fear everything is going to have a difficult time in Texas right now. Our river levels are extremely low right now also.

Thanks jambaloney.

Normally this pond goes all the way back to the tree line but was mostly grown up in grass. It's since gone dry and the ducks have left as well.

Lots of birds that are normally present are no where to be seen. Things are simply too dry right now. The big fear now is that many wells are going to start going dry as well.

We need close to two feet of rain just to get close to normal rainfall amounts in my area.

Thanks Craig.

Geese are flying overhead, last flight lessons for this year's offspring before heading out.

The photo made me smile. Thanks.

It'll rain soon but it will take some time for things to get back to normal.

Appreciate the kind words and thoughts.

Thanks my friend.

Now that you mention it, there were a couple of ducks that remained on the pond.

Probably a proud set of parents watching their youngsters. It does make you want to smile when you think about it.

Thanks Brigid.

BTW, I'm enjoying some of Mrs. RW's banana nut muffins right now.
