I had to work a case down in Florida. I've never heard so many slithery things trying to get out of my way as I walked down towards the water. High boots or not, I couldn't get out of there fast enough.

Being aware of your environment is often a vital part of survival. Many people sometimes fail to pay attention to even simple dangers that may be a natural part of the environment.

Florida does seem to have more than its share of creepy crawlers and you can wind up in a precarious situation pretty fast. I spent a short time in the Everglades on a trip several years back and was amazed at the wide variety of wildlife in the area. You can get a real uncomfortable feeling when you step off the airboat. It's like being in a different world.

High boots and airboats are a good thing...especially if there are a few "slithery things" living in the neighborhood.

Thanks Brigid.

He readily put on a show and wasn't camera shy...that's for sure.

Thanks Bob III.
