Simple Survival Gear Mods - Sticks for Survival

Nature has many things in abundance that can aid in your survival. One of the most common items you will find in nature is a stick. It is relatively easy to make simple survival gear with just a couple of pieces of lightweight gear that will transform a simple stick into a very useful tool for your survival.




Using a simple frog gig attachment and a length of cordage you can make simple gear for your survival by merely adding a stick. If you happen to use a walking or hiking stick on a regular basis, you won’t even have to hunt for a stick!

    RW,it just so happens I do have sticks. I have had two drying out for over a year now. Gonna leave one long as a staff,one shorter more like cane length. Very useful.

    Digging, hiking/pacing, throwing, reaching, keeping things away, using as a tracking tool, hitting, propping, etc.

    ...yep,got em...walkin'stick,snake stick,fire stick,call'em what you will...the name may change,but the stick stays the same...got two right now myself,one short and stout,other a little longer and thinner...


    ...plus they make a fine light sabre,and if properly shaped a blaster too(just ask my boy,anything could be a starwars toy...lol)

    Great points made, sharp pointed stick was likely one of Man's first tools. Even today in the African Bush, a digging stick is a commonly used implement to get food out of the ground.

    I installed a gig head on a collapsible mop handle (has threaded ends, about $6 at a hardware store) for easy to store length.

    I don't think you could list all the uses for a good stick on one page. The wide variety of tasks that can be accomplished through the use of a stick is almost limitless. Add a good knife and you can survive just about anything.

    Lil' RW, my grandson has his favorite stick as well. He calls it a "bear stick" and says if he runs into a mean old bear he will teach him a lesson.lol

    I just put a gig and a couple of screws in a pack...just use my multi tool to put it together.All I have to do is find a decent stick.

    A blunt stick (aka, club) works pretty good also. lol
