Debris Hut 001
Debris Hut 002
Shelter is one of the main requirements for survival and Nature provides plenty of building materials for you. Building a survival shelter can be hard work. If done properly, it can make a big difference in your survival. Here are some pics of an actual debris hut.
Nature will supply you with the materials needed for your survival. The rest is up to you.

certainly beats not having any cover at all!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the pics!
Common problem is making the shelter too large to leverage the heat generated by your body.
ReplyDeleteBest model for a debris hut is a squirrel nest.
The picture you showed looks more like a wikiup, although it is covered in debris.
The typical (and most efficient in cold weather) debris shelter is little more than an insulated nest that you can barely crawl into.
Very cool.Thanks,RW.

ReplyDeleteDiagrams and illustrations are nice for a reference but actually building a survival shelter is a big job.
Thanks.

ReplyDeleteThis is a little larger than a normal survival shelter but was made to shelter more than one person.
It is close to being a wikiup though.
Thanks Dustin.

ReplyDeleteSmall or large shelters still take time and effort to build but can make a difference if needed.
Thanks CS!
