Dillo After Dark

RW, Jr. decided to go looking for the source of something rustling around in the dark.

Staying above the water line!

Its amazing how loud those damnable 'dillos in the dark when you are camping out - sounds like a troop of Tyranosaurus or Freddy Kruger trying to sneak up on you. Their bad eyesight is their downfall - if you freeze in place and were pretty quiet in walking up, they'll keep on coming until they nearly bang their noses into your boots, lol.

Then they jump back startled, and bounce / hop off, really funny.

We got to see these things pretty often, as a ranch house we used to inhabit, there was a armadillo den right behind the a/c condensing unit pad, about 5' from the back porch.

Good article.

Dillos like to poke their snouts around a lot and make a lot of noise doing it...not good if you're a light sleeper!

My daughter almost tripped over a 'dillo when we were out hiking. She didn't even notice it when it froze in place.

Had a bunch of dillos living under one of sheds and a whole lot of little ones scurrying around...they can dig some mean holes.

The bad part is that a lot of time rattlesnakes like to take up residence in abandoned armadillo diggin's. Got to be careful.

I use to catch dillos with a cardboard box when I was younger...I moved a lot faster back then. LOL
