Personal Protection Items - Hiking Boots

Protecting your feet is one of the main things that is necessary on an everyday basis. If you have to travel by foot, either by necessity or by choice, you will need a good pair of hiking or walking boots to properly protect your feet. A good pair of hiking boots combined with a good hiking staff will carry you a long ways.

Always take time to properly "break-in" new boots to avoid blisters and other unnecessary problems.

Staying above the water line!

Great post RW. I have a good pair of hiking boots but I do need a hiking staff. I like your idea; I need to find me an old broom handle.

Just don't use one of the wife's new broom or mop handles, they take a real dim view of you chopping them up to make a hiking staff!

Great choice!

I got my hiking boots at an end of season closeout at Academy for half price which made them a good deal.

Can't get very far if you don't take care of your feet! Thanks.

Just so people will know what we're talking about:

Ultima Exospeeds are a combat boot that is made out of sneaker type materials. They are light and are very comfortable. They also don’t require a “break in” period. They are usually about $80 to $90 bucks a pair. There are also other companies that make similar boots; Oakley, 5.11, and Blackhawk. You can check a magazine like U.S. Cavalry to see these types.

You bet they do! Graet to hear you've got a decent pair of hiking boots.

So very true, one of the best preps you can have are some extra good fitting shoes to wear if the balloon goes up. One thing EVERYONE WILL NEED IS MOBILITY.

Will be a luxury later on.

Total agreement here! I wouldn't like to think about what could happen if there was a loss of mobility.

Hiking boots will be our best friend on the mountainside for many reasons.
