Another One Bites the Dirt

Mrs. RW is still working to diminish the gopher population in Texas. She has declared war on all gophers. The gophers have to go and she plans to make sure they do! She’s still busy Trapping Pesky Critters.

" Texas maximus" Trap

She may eventually need a bigger trap if she runs across a Texas maximus!

Be careful! If you see an extremely large pile of fresh dirt in your yard or garden, you might experience an encounter with the legendary Texas maximus.... in which case you will need your Mossberg maximus.

She still isn’t convinced about eating gopher stew yet!

Staying above the water line!

I still like my grandpa's method of getting rid of gophers.

He hooked a hose up to the exhaust on his little garden tractor, then put a metal tip on the hose. I think the metal tip might have started life as one of those long funnels used to add oil or ATF to cars with tight engine compartments. You can use a car, lawn mower, or whatever.

He would stick the metal into the gopher tunnel and idle the tractor for 5 minutes or so. Then he would make sure the hole was sealed up and drive away. The gopher goes to the lowest point in it's den, which is also where the CO goes.

Of course you can't make stew out of them, but I'm probably not going to in any case, if I can help it.

Please give my respects to Mrs. RW. I can understand her determination! My kids still tell stories about the time I went on "slug detruct" mode when we lived in Virginia...they used to bring friends over to watch Mom out in the garden with a flashlight stuck on her hat and salt in each hand!

Might want to stock some extra food and avoid gopher stew if possible. LOL

Do they make gas masks that small?

Might be kind of tasty if you spice it up! Rodent chili?

How long has it been since you've had a big bowl of (rodent) chili?
Well, that's too long!

We have something digging up our garden but can't figure out what. We know a human did it three times, but think there's an animal doing it too.

Instead of gopher stew ... cat maybe? ;)

You may have a dog that is digging in your yard. Sometimes they can smell the gophers and will try to dig them up.
