Riverwalker's Dream - Visiting the Australian Outback

It's been one of my dreams to visit the Australian Outback. With a little checking it seems that survival in the Australian Outback isn't a lot different than surviving in a number of other places.

Before visiting the Australian Outback, you should take some time and get familiar with the Australian Outback Survival Rules. It seems like it's still just a matter of the simple things people do without thinking that put them in a dangerous position that threatens their survival.

Here are a couple of excerpts from the site:

“We're not talking about all the well known tourist attractions. If you stick to the usual stuff you don't need to worry about a thing, except don't get sunburned, and don't get heat struck. (Wear a hat and take a bottle of water on walks. How hard is that?). Oh, and watch where you are walking. If it has scales and slithers don't stand on it.”

"To venture off the beaten track in the Australian Outback without following those rules is just like stepping out onto a busy road from between parked cars without looking left and right. Stupidity can kill you anywhere."

So if you're heading to Australia anytime soon, be sure to follow the Australian Outback Survival Rules.

Anyone wishing to help me fulfill my dream feel free to send me a ticket, preferably First Class.
You could give me the opportunity of a lifetime.

I'll settle for a ticket to New Zealand because I've always wanted to go there also!

If you're really into the Christmas spirit, just e-mail me and I'll make arrangements to pick up my ticket!

Staying above the water line!

Bill Bryson wrote a great book on traveling in Australia, I'd try and borrow a copy of it. Australia is beautiful, and the interior is pretty isolated, but it is mind boggling how many dangerous creatures / plants live out there. I want to visit New Zealand myself, but Austrailia is definitely in the same neighborhood.

I'll keep an eye out for the book.

Thanks.

Remember the nature series "In the Wild" with Harry Butler. It was the best. Hope you make it there but be careful of those mean ass wild camels-they'll rip you apart.

G'Day Mate! Krikey, I'd love to go there meself. And I'd also love to see the Sunshine Coast and the Great Barrier Reef. And of course, no trip would be complete without seeing Australia Zoo and the crocs. "Ah'nt they gooorgeous"!
